Dragons Den

BBC 2 - Would-be entrepreneurs enter the Dragons’ Den

Would-be entrepreneurs enter the Dragons’ Den for the chance of a lifetime, with a potential reward of capital investment in their idea, dream or company. But the investors are no soft touch; they are five multi-millionaire business people who’ve all been there and done it.

They’ve heard thousands of ideas before and aren’t afraid to say no in the harshest of terms. But what the Dragons can do is sniff out that diamond in the rough, recognise a great idea and make dreams come true by investing hundreds of thousands of pounds of their own cash.

Who are the dragons on Dragons Den?

The Dragons are:

  • Simon Woodroffe, the man behind Yo! Sushi and whose brand includes clothing,Yo! Japan, Publishing Yo! and YOTEL!
  • Rachel Elnaugh, an ex-accountant and creator of Red Letter Days, now estimated to be worth around £25m
  • Duncan Bannatyne OBE, a former ice cream van owner who now owns a chain of health clubs and who is estimated to be worth around £130m
  • Peter Jones, who set up the Phones International Group and is now worth more than £300m
  • Doug Richard, who sold his first software company for over $14m and is now the owner of Library House.

In programme one, two fashion designers from Glasgow seek £60,000 of investment for a unique fashion brand – but will their passion for fashion get in the way of a cool pitch? Confident salesman Gavin wants £150,000 to run a jazz music festival; can he smooth talk his way to the money? Ex-investment banker Charles needs £150,000 to set up a business in umbrella vending machines; will his calm approach convince the Dragons? An ex-builder has come up with the perfect invention to send a baby to sleep; will he get the money he needs to make his dream come true to set up his own company?
